DALLAS-Lennox International Inc. has
announced an international joint venture
that Lennox Chairman and CEO John
Norris said will “make Lennox a major
competitor in the global HVAC&R market-
place!’
Norris and Bob Jenkins, Lennox
Global Ltd. president, said the new com-
pany is named HCF-Lennox. It will include
the Lennox U.K. manufacturing facility in
Northampton, England, and three French
companies and
a
German company that are
part of the Brancher group. The French
companies are HCF, Sofica Industrie and
Geniclima. The German company is Hyfra
Industriekuhlanlagen.
The agreement is expected to be final-
ized in May. HCF-Lennox will be head-
quartered near Lyon, France and specialize
in the manufacture and sales of products
serving the HVAC&R markets. Jean-Pierre
HCF-Lennox will market the ¡oint ven-

ture’s products in Europe, Africa and the
Middle East. Lennox Global Ltd. will
market the products in South American and
Asia, and Lennox U.K. will market certain
products in the United Kingdom.
Boutier said that the joint venture com-
panies have combined sales of about $120
million. When formed in May, HCF-
Lennox will be the leading provider in
Europe of rooftop air conditioners, and
among the leaders for chillers, precision air
conditioners,
air
handling units and a broad
range
of
refrigeration products.

and light commercial lines with the heavy
commercial lines
of
our other joint venture
partners, HCF-Lennox is immediately a
major player in the global market:’ said

DEER PARK, NY.-Heritage Air Systems
(HAS),
a subsidiary
of
EMCORP Group, has
been awarded three contracts for HVAC work
that total
$4.3
million. The contracts include
$1.3
million contract for the NY. Congrega-
tional Home of the Aged; a $1.5 million con-
tract for air-side HVAC systems for five
floors
of the NYNEX office building; and a
$1.5
miliion
contract for an air-side retrofit on five
floors
of
an
office complex on

Water Heater Project
ALBANY, NY-The New York State Energy
Research and Development Authority
(NYSERDA) and Stor-Ex New York of
Queens plan to develop and demonstrate a
high-efficiency water heater that will meet
existing and anticipated state regulations for
energy efficiency. The heater
will
be designed
for residential and small commercial buildings
and reduce stand heat
loss
through additional
jacket insulation. NYSERDA
is
splitting the
cost of the $429,000 project.
Varian, CETEC Reach Agreement
PALO ALTO, Calif.-Varian Associates has
announced
that
its
Vacuum Products business
unit in Lexington, Mass. and CETEC,
AF
of
Switzerland have agreed to cooperate in the
design and distribution of several CETEC
vacuum valves. Varian
also
has been licensed
to sell and manufacture selected CETEC
products at Varian’s production
facility
in
Lw-
ington. Varian makes leak detectors, pumps,
gauges and valves.
CETEC
supplies several
exclusive valve designs for high-energy physics
applications.
