RoboModule RMDS series drivers use RS232 communication protocol to send various information such as current, speed, and position to external devices. These drivers also send the status of CTL1 and CTL2 ports, as well as online detection feedback. After sending this information, they wait for 500ms before sending further data. The RMDS series user manual is applicable to a wide range of RoboModule drivers, including 101, 102, 103, 104, 105, 105, 106, 106, 107, 108, 201, 301, 302, 303, 303, 401, and 402. This document focuses on using the RS232 serial port to control the motor in various ways. To use the RS232 control method, several wires need to be connected, including power lines (24V, GND), encoder (CHA, CHB, GND, 5V), motor (MT1, MT2), and RS232 line (232T, GND, 232R). The 232T should be connected to the RS232 receive end (R side) of the main controller, and the 232R should be connected to the RS232 transmit end (T side) of the main controller. The default serial port baud rate for the RS232 protocol is 115200, with 8 data bits, 1 stop bit, no parity, and no flow control. The RS232 baud rate can be modified using the RoboModule motor driver debugging software, supporting 10 different baud rates: 921600, 460800, 230400, and so on. In conclusion, the RMDS series of RoboModule drivers utilize the RS232 communication protocol to transmit vital information and offer precise control over motor functions. Users can refer to the user manual for detailed instructions on how to connect and operate various components for successful motor control using the RS232 protocol. The flexibility in baud rates allows for customization based on specific needs, making it an ideal choice for diverse applications.
