Keysight 5G Test Application Framework User Guide | Revision 13 | 18 February 2020
• One of 1x1, 1x2, 2x2 or 4x4, where the first number is the number of transmission sources, and the second
number is the number of receiving antenna. Test Application maps the transmission source(s) to ports
according to the RAT, direction and frequency ranges assigned to
port roles in HCCU.
• One of 1x4 Prx/Tx (Main), 1x4 Div1 (Diversity 1), 1x4 Div2 (Diversity 2), 1x4 Div3 (Diversity 3). These options
are for tests of a UE with four receivers, where you wish to test each UE receiver with a SISO signal
independently. Use the options to change the output antenna for the downlink SISO signal (1x1) between
Main, Diversity1, Diversity2, and Diversity3
port roles in HCCU.
3.1.1.3 Selecting a DL MIMO configuration (NR cell)
An NR cell's DL MIMO configuration is defined under Cell > Config > DL MIMO Configuration.
3.1.1.3.1 FR1 cell
For an FR1 cell, you can select:
• 1x1. When you select this option, a new field appears, DL Antenna Config, in which to choose how to direct
the transmission stream. You can map the output antenna for the downlink SISO signal directly to an RF
antenna port on the UXM-5G (
Managed option), or select a port role in HCCU.
• 1x2, 1x4, 2x1, 2x2, 2x4, 4x1, 4x2 or 4x4. These options select MIMO Configuration Presets. When you select
1x2, 2x2 or 4x4, a new field appears, Static Channel Model, in which to choose to use 3GPP static MIMO
channel models, or to bypass the 3GPP models and map each physical antenna port stream to an RF
antenna port on the UXM-5G.
3.1.1.3.2 FR2 cell
For an FR2 cell, you can select 1x2, 2x2 or 4x4. Test Application maps the 1, 2 or 4 transmission source(s) to
ports according to the RAT, direction and frequency ranges assigned to port roles in HCCU.
3.1.2 MIMO Configuration Presets
Related tutorial: Downlink Antenna Configuration
5G NR Test Application provides presets that automatically adjust related parameters when you move between
MIMO schemes, for example, between 2x2 and 4x4 MIMO configurations. This tutorial explains how to select
MIMO presets, and lists the configuration values that are set by each preset.
3.1.2.1 Choosing a preset
1. Either:
▪ Select the NR cell whose MIMO scheme you wish to change on the System > Config tab,
or
▪ Select the NR cell in the cell details area of the workspace, then select its Cell > Config tab.
2. Select the required presets in the DL MIMO Config and UL MIMO Config fields. The lists of available presets
depend on:
▪ The downlink and uplink MIMO configurations defined in the Hardware Configuration Control Utility for
your test system.
▪ The cell Frequency Range: FR1 (sub-60GHz) or FR2 (mmWave).
For example:
