System's time domain response analysis is a critical method to evaluate the performance of control systems. It involves solving the system's differential equations in the time domain, and analyzing the system's performance and the influence of major parameters on system performance based on the generated response curve. Typically, the response curve refers to the step response and impulse response. The approach to solving the typical system response involves first formulating the differential equations, taking the Laplace transform of both sides to obtain the system transfer function, and then analyzing the system based on the plotted graphs. MATLAB provides convenient and efficient functions for system time domain response analysis, allowing users to quickly observe if the system output meets the requirements. Through system simulation, parameters such as rise time, settling time, overshoot, and steady-state error of the system transfer function can be determined. After conducting system simulation using MATLAB software in this comprehensive practice, the output function of the system was obtained, enabling a visual representation of the changes in the system's state variables.
