ARB marker signals

A marker signal is a digital signal which is synchronized to the processed waveform

file.

Markers can be used in various ways:

●

Generate output triggers and synchronize external devices to the processed wave-

form file. The markers are fed to a rear panel output connector for this purpose.

●

Trigger measurements. The markers appear in the "Trigger Source" lists of the

measurements.

To address these trigger signals in remote commands, use the following strings,

with <i> replaced by the instance number of the generator:

–

"GPRF Gen<i>: Restart Marker"

–

"GPRF Gen<i>: Waveform Marker <j>"

Control the list mode of the "GPRF Power" measurement or of the GPRF genera-

tor.

The following marker types are available:

●

Restart marker: A trigger event is generated every time the waveform file is star-

ted.

●

Waveform marker 2 / 3 / 4: The marker signals in the processed waveform file

define the output trigger events.

2.2.3.3 Combining List Mode and Baseband Modes

The following tables give an overview of the allowed combinations of RF carrier and

baseband settings, together with a brief description of the resulting signals.

List mode off

Baseband mode Generated signal

CW CW signal at constant frequency and level.

Dual tone Superposition of two CW signals, each with constant frequency and level.

ARB Modulated signal with constant RF carrier settings.

List mode on, sequence of steps

Baseband mode Generated signal

CW Sequence of CW signals, frequency and level configurable per step.

Dual tone Sequence of steps, each containing a dual-tone signal. The list mode settings

define the carrier frequency and the RMS level per step. The baseband set-

tings define the offset frequencies and the power ratio globally.

ARB Sequence of modulated or unmodulated steps, according to the contents of the

ARB file and the list mode settings.
