Abstract: As the development of science and technology continues on a global scale and society progresses, the process of urbanization has accelerated. With more and more people being able to afford cars, traffic congestion has become a common issue. It is evident that simple intersection traffic lights are no longer able to meet the trend of modern development. Therefore, there is a need for a more rational and effective intelligent traffic light control system to alleviate the pressure on urban traffic. In modern times, using a single-chip microcontroller to control traffic lights has become the mainstream approach for traffic regulation. Using a single-chip microcontroller to control traffic lights is convenient, high-performance, and easy to control. Therefore, it is necessary for us to conduct a systematic study on this topic. In this graduation design, my main task is to design a traffic light control system at a four-way intersection and control the system using a single-chip microcontroller. The system consists of an AT89C51 single-chip microcontroller, traffic signal control circuit, LED digital display circuit, and button circuit. In addition to the basic traffic signal control function, the system also includes functions such as countdown and time setting. Keywords: single-chip microcontroller, traffic signal light.
