2 The Initial Load (Legacy Recording
Mechanism)
You use the initial load to load data from the source system to the target system. You can do this in the SAP LT
Replication Server Cockpit (transactionLTRC) by choosingData Provisioning, and thenStart Load. You can also
use the option Start Replication, which starts the initial load and then begins the replication process.
2.1 Reading Types
Reading data in a system depends on the underlying database. SAP LT Replication Server provides different
options for reading data from source systems. These different options are called reading types, and are described
in more detail in the sections below.
A default reading type is used for a configuration. This means that data will be read from the source system
database using this reading type for all tables in the configuration. When you create a configuration, you specify
an initial load mode. The reading types associated with each option are outlined in the sections below
