e research and testing of distributed file systems have become a hot topic in the industry. The first version of the Ceph distributed file system was released in June 2012. As an emerging distributed file system, it is urgently needed to test, verify, and research the architectural features, structural characteristics, performance, availability, and scalability of the system. This paper takes Ceph distributed file system as the research object, first analyzes the architecture of the file system and two key technologies in the system prototype: CRUSH algorithm and RADOS object storage service, and studies their impact on system performance and scalability. Next, based on the previous analysis and research results, we build a test environment and design test cases for the system to comprehensively test its performance, availability, and scalability. Finally, new journal storage schemes and new cluster network topologies are proposed based on the research and testing results, and the optimized system is further tested to verify the correctness of the optimization. The test results show that the Ceph distributed file system has high availability, scalability, and excellent performance, and the two cluster deployment optimization schemes proposed in this paper do improve the system performance. The research and testing of the Ceph distributed file system in this paper provide valuable insights and guidance for the industry in understanding the performance and characteristics of distributed file systems, as well as the optimization of system performance. This study contributes to the advancement of distributed file system research and provides practical guidance for the deployment and optimization of Ceph distributed file systems.
