The importance of root mean square (RMS) value in practical applications cannot be overstated, as it is the most commonly used parameter in measuring AC signals. The RMS value directly reflects the energy of the AC signal, which is crucial for studying power, noise, distortion, spectral purity, energy conversion, and other important factors. Additionally, the RMS value has a simple additive property, making it easy to calculate.
This project focuses on using the STC89C51 microcontroller as the control core, along with the AD736 RMS measurement chip to measure the RMS value of sinusoidal AC signals. The measured results are amplified, converted by the TLC549 A/D converter chip, and displayed on an LCD screen under the control of the microcontroller. This design provides a practical and efficient method for measuring the RMS value of AC signals.
