3.2.1 Basic types

The following basic types are available:

• Basic type A (used as a ventilation controller)

Key feature: Controller 1 is a room temperature controller, supply air temperature

controller or room / supply air temperature cascade controller

• Basic type C (used as a demand-dependent chilled water controller)

Key feature: Controller 1 is a demand-dependent chilled water flow temperature

controller

• Basic type U (used as a universal controller)

Key feature: Controller 1 is a universal controller

3.2.2 Assignment of extension modules

The functions of a controller can be extended by attaching extension modules to it.

The following types of extension modules can be connected to each type of RMU7xx:

1x RMZ786: Control of 2 twin pumps

1x RMZ787: Extension of the inputs and outputs, 4 universal inputs, 4 relay

outputs

1x RMZ788: Extension of the inputs and outputs, 4 universal inputs, 2 modulating

outputs, 2 relay outputs

The extensions can be activated by simply connecting them to the controller. In

addition, the position of the extension module must be set on the controller.

• Prior to attaching an extension module, the system must be disconnected from

power

• A standard application in the controller can also contain connections to the extension

modules. The relevant functions are only active if the respective extension module

has been connected and activated

3.2.3 Handling faults

If the extension modules and their positions actually used do not agree with the values

entered in the controller list, or if an extension modules fails during operation, a fault

status message will be delivered.

3.3 3 choices for the right application

3.3.1 Preprogrammed application

Each universal controller contains 5 tested preprogrammed applications.

The most straightforward way of commissioning a plant is to activate a preprogrammed

application and to match the configuration to the relevant plant, if required.

The preprogrammed applications are described in the Application Catalog.

The "Plant type" line displays the following: A01 (AEFB01 MU3 HQ)

Meaning:

A = the standard application corresponds to basic type A

01 = first internally loaded standard application

The name in parentheses AEFB01 MU3 HQ is the application’s code. It corresponds to

the designation of the relevant application sheet in the Application Catalog.

If the "Plant type" line only displays a letter, it means that basic type A, C or U is

loaded. Without making adaptations on the "Extra configuration" line, such an

application does not work.

The loaded application can also be called up outside the "Commissioning" menu

(during plant operation), namely the "Device information" menu.

Meaning:

Plant type = Display of the plant type loaded (e.g. A01)

File = Here, the file name of the application is displayed (e.g.

AEFB01 MU3 HQ)

3.3.2 Adapted application

The programmed application is not quite suited but an adapted application is described

in the Application Catalog. In that case, a number of settings are to be made on the

"Extra configuration" menu.

3.3.3 Free configuration

The required application is not described, and the configuration must be newly created.

Using the configuration diagrams, the controller can be matched to the type of plant (for

detailed information, refer to section 20.2 "Configuration diagrams").

3.4 Wiring test

A wiring test can be made after all peripheral devices are connected. On completion of

the configuration and after having made all settings, it is recommended to conduct this

test.

Reading values are displayed for the inputs, and aggregates (fans, pumps, etc.)

connected to the outputs can be switched on and off.

With the step switches, it is only a 0...100 % signal that can be predefined, whereby the

relays are energized.

During the wiring test, the application is inactive, and the outputs are in a defined OFF

state; safety-related functions, such as frost protection, are deactivated!

The wiring test checks the inputs and outputs for the following types of errors:

• Connection error (lines mixed up)

• Position error (sensor or actuating devices mixed up)

• Discrepancy between actual type of connection and controller configuration (e.g. Ni

1000 in place of active DC 0...10 V)

4 General device settings

4.1 Time of day and date

4.1.1 Mode of operation

The controller has a yearly clock with time of day, weekday and date.

Time format

The following time formats are available:

• The date appears as dd.mm.yyyy (day.month.year), e.g. 31.05.2003

• The time of day appears as hh:mm (hours : minutes), e.g. 15:56

• The date appears as mm/dd/yy (month/day/year), e.g. 05/31/ 2003

• The time of day appears as hh:mm am/pm (hours : minutes am/pm),

e.g. 03:56 PM

Summer- / wintertime changeover

The change from summertime to wintertime, and vice versa, is made automatically.

The date of the earliest changeover can be adjusted should the relevant regulations

change.

The dates set for the change from wintertime to summertime, or from summertime to

wintertime, ensure that on the first Sunday after that date the time of day will change

from 02:00 (wintertime) to 03:00 (summertime), and from 03:00 (summertime) to 02:00

(wintertime). If both dates are set such that they coincide, summer- / wintertime

changeover will be inactive.

4.1.2 Communication

For the time of day, there are several sources available, depending on the master

clock. This can be entered on the controller. Time of day and date can be exchanged

via the bus. The following settings for clock time operation are possible:

• Autonomous (does not send and does not receive)

• Time of day from the bus: Time-of-day slave (receives the synchronization signal

from the bus)

• Time of day to the bus: Time-of-day master (sends the synchronization signal to the

bus)
