Many companies are facing the challenge of talent shortage, specifically lacking in specialized professionals and strong leadership figures. This has become a major obstacle hindering the progress of businesses. This paper identifies two main factors that hinder the development of talent within companies: first, the overemphasis on recruitment of external talent resources, leading to neglect in investing in talent development; and second, the oversimplification and standardization of talent training models within enterprises. Japanese companies, in particular, place great importance on cultivating talent based on their unique characteristics. The training of talent in Japanese companies is not solely the responsibility of the human resources department, but also involves experts and managers at all levels. This inclusive approach to talent training is a key reason why Japanese companies continuously produce a steady stream of capable individuals to lead their organizations. Although there are significant differences in the social and economic contexts between Japan and China, there are valuable insights and practices in talent development that can be learned from Japanese enterprises. By studying and considering the approaches and perspectives of Japanese companies in talent training, Chinese businesses can potentially enhance their own talent development strategies. In conclusion, the study of Japanese enterprises' personnel training model serves as a valuable reference for companies facing talent shortages and seeking to improve their talent development practices. By adopting a holistic and customized approach to talent training, businesses can better nurture and retain skilled professionals and effective leaders, ultimately contributing to their long-term success and sustainability.
