In this paper, we addressed the importance of accurate and real-time monitoring of the mud level in mine sumps for ensuring mine safety. Traditional monitoring methods were found to be inefficient and crude, failing to meet the requirements of modern coal mine development. To address this, we proposed the use of ultrasonic technology for real-time monitoring of the mud level. We conducted a comprehensive study on the selection of sensors, substations, and the methods of serial communication, and designed a web-based mud level monitoring system. The system was developed using the Java programming language in the IntelliJ IDEA platform, with data storage and retrieval managed through MySQL. Deployment of the project was achieved using Tomcat, enabling access to real-time data through the web interface. The system underwent rigorous testing, demonstrating high accuracy, real-time monitoring, and stability. Additionally, the system allowed for remote access to the mud level data of the sump. In conclusion, the implementation of a real-time monitoring system using ultrasonic technology has demonstrated significant improvements in the accuracy and efficiency of monitoring the mud level in mine sumps. This advancement is crucial for enhancing mine safety measures and meeting the demands of modern coal mine developments. Further research and development in this area could lead to even more advanced and effective monitoring systems for ensuring mine safety.
