The rapid development of computer technology has led to the emergence of a new concept in instrument technology known as virtual instrumentation. This concept involves the use of a computer's display to simulate the control panel of traditional instruments and to perform various testing functions. LabView, a graphical programming platform, is one such software that enables the development of virtual instruments. In this paper, we discuss the design and implementation of communication between LabView and a single-chip microcomputer (MCU) using the STC12C5A60S2 microcontroller as a case study. The paper begins with an overview of virtual instrumentation and the basic principles of the LabView platform. The design of the MCU serial communication protocol based on LabView is then discussed in detail. The communication between the MCU and LabView is established through a serial port, and the paper describes the hardware and software components required for this communication. The design of a temperature detection system is used as an example to illustrate the practical application of the serial communication protocol. The use of LabView as a virtual instrument software greatly simplifies the complexity of serial communication and reduces the workload of software design. This results in a significant reduction in investment costs. The practical application of the communication design has been proven to be valuable in various fields. In conclusion, the design and implementation of MCU serial communication based on LabView is an effective and efficient method for integrating virtual instruments and single-chip microcomputers. This approach has great potential for practical applications in the field of instrumentation and control. Keywords: microcontroller, LabView, serial communication.
