Abstract: The goal of optimizing supply chain management is to minimize the overall operating costs of the supply chain. One important aspect of achieving cost minimization is the effective management of inventory in the supply chain. Therefore, planning and coordinating inventory in the supply chain becomes a crucial means of minimizing inventory costs. This article explores several models of planning and coordinating supply chain inventory, and through comparative analysis, presents a general framework and design steps for inventory planning and coordination mechanisms in supply chain management. In order to effectively address supply and demand conflicts, balance production, and even participate in speculation, businesses must maintain a certain level of inventory. However, inventory often masks uncertainties in demand forecasting, unreliable suppliers, quality issues with products and services, and insufficient production capacity. Therefore, it is imperative for businesses to minimize inventory in order to expose and address these underlying issues, thereby improving their operational management and ability to respond quickly to changes. The uncertainties in the supply chain and the resulting "Bullwhip" effect increase overall inventory levels in the supply chain system, leading to unnecessary costs for various entities in the supply chain. Through a comparative analysis of several models of supply chain inventory management, we can gain insights into which entities bear the heaviest burden in the supply chain and who is responsible for planning and managing inventory in the chain. This analysis provides valuable insight into the challenges and solutions in supply chain inventory management.
