Ethyl acetate is an important organic solvent and chemical raw material with a wide range of applications. Traditionally, it is produced by catalyzing the reaction between ethanol and acetic acid with concentrated sulfuric acid as the catalyst. This project aims to design a reactor for the production of 5017 tons of ethyl acetate per year.
The design process involves a thorough investigation of the physical and chemical properties of ethyl acetate, the societal demand and utilization, as well as the current progress in the production of ethyl acetate both domestically and internationally. A comparison between laboratory synthesis and industrial production of ethyl acetate is conducted to formulate a synthesis process for ethyl acetate from ethanol and acetic acid.
The industrial design of the reactor includes material and heat balance calculations, as well as equipment selection for the synthesis process. Detailed data and drawings are provided for the design of a batch reactor for the production of ethyl acetate.
In conclusion, the design of the reactor for the production of ethyl acetate is based on careful research and analysis of the current status of ethyl acetate production. The proposed design aims to optimize the production process and meet the demand for ethyl acetate in various industries.
