11GR2RAC for linux 5.5 Implementation Document This document outlines the implementation of Oracle 11GR2 RAC on Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 5.5. The implementation was carried out by the implementation engineer on May 10, 2011. I. System Configuration - System Version: RHEL 5.5 - Database Version: 11GR2 II. Required Linux Software Packages for Oracle RAC Installation The following linux software packages were installed using the yum command on both nodes: - binutils - compat-libstdc - elfutils-libelf - elfutils-libelf-devel - elfutils-libelf-devel-static - gcc - gcc-c - glibc - glibc-common - glibc-devel - glibc-headers - ksh - libaio - libaio-devel - libgcc - libgomp - libstdc - libstdc-devel - make - sysstat - unixODBC - unixODBC-devel III. IP Address Allocation The IP addresses were allocated as follows: - SCAN IP address: The SCAN IP address was resolved using DNS, and it is important to note that GNS or DNS should be used for resolving the SCAN IP address. In this case, DNS resolution was used. - Other addresses: All other IP addresses were defined in the hosts file. This implementation document provides a comprehensive guide for the installation of Oracle 11GR2 RAC on RHEL 5.5. The document includes detailed information on system configuration, required software packages, and IP address allocation. It serves as a valuable resource for engineers and administrators involved in similar implementations. Overall, the successful implementation of Oracle 11GR2 RAC on RHEL 5.5 demonstrates the capability of the system to support the demands of a scalable and high-availability database environment. The meticulous attention to detail in the implementation process ensures the stability and performance of the Oracle RAC system for the organization.
