"Z3040 type rocker arm drilling machine is commonly used in mechanical workshops for single or batch production of large parts with multiple holes. It has been widely used in the mechanical industry. However, the relay-contactor control circuit has many drawbacks such as complex wiring, high risk of electrical shock, high cost, and difficulty in logic modification and function expansion. Compared to the relay-contactor electrical control system, the PLC control system has the advantages of simple structure, easy programming, short debugging cycle, high reliability, and lower requirements for the working environment. Therefore, it is necessary to upgrade the Z3040 rocker arm drilling machine control system with PLC. This design focuses on the PLC upgrade of the Z3040 rocker arm drilling machine electrical control system. Firstly, it analyzes the control principle and PLC characteristics of the Z3040 rocker arm drilling machine. Secondly, it selects the PLC model, assigns I/O ports, and draws the wiring diagram according to the control system principle and PLC characteristics. It also includes PLC ladder diagram program design, instruction statement table writing, and system program simulation. Finally, based on the control requirements, it calculates and selects the important electrical components in the drilling machine control circuit. Through the PLC upgrade of the rocker arm drilling machine control system, it overcomes many drawbacks of the relay-contactor system, greatly improves the drilling machine's working efficiency and lifespan.
