Abstract The student enrollment in schools, whether at higher education institutions or secondary and primary schools, has been continuously increasing along with the popularization of education in China. This growth in student population has led to significant pressures on the administrative management in schools. Course selection is an essential function in the daily study activities of students, and schools need to pay high attention to course selection management, especially at the beginning of each semester when students need to choose their courses for the new term. The traditional manual recording and management methods are no longer effective in managing the increasing student population. With the rapid development of computers and the internet, it has become necessary to develop and design online course selection systems using network structure programs. This paper presents the complete construction of a student course selection system using the SSM framework. The system enables students to select courses online, allows teachers to manage courses online, and provides administrators with comprehensive backend information management functions. The system designed in this paper can effectively be used in various higher education institutions, providing students and teachers with efficient online services.
