Overview
The DesignWare
®
SoundWave Audio Subsystem provides a complete, pre-
verified hardware, software and prototyping solution for the integration of audio
functions into a system-on-chip (SoC). The SoundWave Audio Subsystem includes
a power-efficient ARC
®
32-bit single or dual-core processor, standard digital I
2
S
and S/PDIF interfaces and analog codecs. The SoundWave Audio Subsystem’s
integrated Media Streaming Framework (MSF) embeds decoders, encoders
and audio post-processing functions such as volume control, equalization and
bass management. An audio plug-in component based on the industry-standard
GStreamer multimedia framework enables developers to quickly integrate audio
subsystem software into their application software on a host processor. The
subsystem also offers a comprehensive library of software audio codecs supporting
the latest audio formats from Dolby, DTS, SRS, Microsoft as well as popular
open-source formats.
For early software development and fast system bring-up, the SoundWave Audio
Subsystem provides example designs for both the Synopsys HAPS
®
FPGA-based
prototyping system and Virtualizer™ virtual prototyping tool set. These hardware
and software prototypes enable complete hardware-software integration and
system validation months before the final design becomes available. By providing a
configurable, SoC-ready audio solution, Synopsys enables designers to reduce their
engineering effort and accelerate time-to-market.
