"the modern society, cars have become an indispensable means of transportation in real life. Various traffic problems frequently occur in urban traffic, highlighting the importance of traffic signals. The main purpose of the author's design is to improve traffic flow control, with two monitoring functions in place for traffic volume and emergency vehicles. The process involves adjusting control based on traffic volume values, allowing the traffic lights to react in real-time to respond to the sudden appearance of emergency vehicles and prevent dangerous situations. When all directions display red signals, the time for emergency vehicles is controlled within the specified limit. In terms of the traffic light controller, the core of the author's design is based on the 8051 single-chip microcomputer to improve its practical efficiency. The crystal oscillator and reset form the minimum system for the 8051, while the control of red and green lights involves cycles and changes in traffic volume. The detection of emergency vehicles allows them to pass through, with the single-chip microcomputer receiving feedback data and running subroutines. The design is programmed in C language, and the simulation is completed in PROTEUS. When the traffic signal is yellow, vehicles can safely pass through the intersection in a timely manner. This design provides effective traffic control at intersections and ensures the smooth flow of traffic. Through the use of sensors, programming, and simulation, the 8051 single-chip microcontroller-based traffic light system effectively manages traffic flow and emergency situations, demonstrating the practical application of modern technology in traffic management.
