Summary: This paper presents the design of an intelligent liquid drip speed monitoring and control device based on a microcontroller. Intravenous infusion is a commonly used clinical treatment method, and it is essential to adjust the infusion speed according to the medication and patient condition. Infusing too quickly can lead to poisoning, edema, and heart failure, while infusing too slowly can result in insufficient medication dosage and unnecessary prolongation of treatment time. Conventional infusion methods rely on manual control using clamps, which are not precise and require a significant amount of work. To address these issues, the proposed system utilizes a microcontroller to design and manufacture an intelligent liquid drip speed monitoring and control device. The device consists of a water droplet speed testing system, a water speed control system, a display device, a microcontroller system, a keyboard, and an alarm system. The principle of the water pressure changing with the height difference is applied to control the drip speed by controlling the lifting of a stepper motor. The drip speed can be set using the keyboard within a range of 20-150 drops per minute, with a tolerance of approximately 10% per drop. The adjustment time from changing the set value to stabilizing the drip speed is less than 3 minutes. Additionally, an alarm signal is triggered when the water level falls below a certain threshold.
