With the rapid development of electronic technology, the design of intellectual game show competition devices has become more sophisticated. This report presents a competitive quiz buzzer system based on the concept of eight-way buzzer competition. The system is designed using the STC89C51 single-chip microcontroller and peripheral interfaces to implement a responsive buzzer system. By utilizing the timer/counter function of the single-chip microcontroller, the system seamlessly integrates software and hardware to accurately keep track of time and display it on a digital display. Switches are used as keyboard outputs, and a speaker provides audio cues to alert participants during the competition. The system includes features such as validating buzzer responses only after the start of the competition, setting time limits for responses and answer times (ranging from 1 to 99 seconds), identifying which participant has successfully buzzed in, audio feedback upon correct responses, and audible warnings during the final five seconds of the countdown. If no participants have buzzed in within the allotted time, the system will reset automatically. The key components used in the design include the AT89C51 microcontroller and a buzzer system. This comprehensive design provides a reliable and user-friendly solution for hosting quiz competitions.
