基于MATLAB的车牌识别研究及设计技术详解
Based on MATLAB, the research on license plate recognition is an important research topic in the field of intelligent transportation, which has developed in recent years with the advancement of computer vision and pattern recognition technologies. In an automatic license plate recognition system, the first step is to segment the license plate from the acquired image, which is a crucial step for character recognition and directly affects the recognition rate. This graduation design project first conducted an in-depth study on the current status and existing technologies of license plate recognition systems. Based on this research, a license plate recognition system was developed using MATLAB. By writing M files, various vehicle image processing methods were analyzed and compared, and methods for license plate pre-processing, coarse localization, and fine localization were proposed. In this design project, edge detection was utilized, extracting features from the vehicle image after edge extraction, analyzing and processing them to initially locate the license plate region. Utilizing prior knowledge and distribution features of license plates, the binary image of the license plate region was processed to obtain the accurate area, achieving good localization results.
