Residual analysis is an effective method for evaluating regression models, identifying outlier data points, and revealing the effects of other variables. For data from accelerated life tests, appropriate residual analysis requires the combination of step and varying stress test data. In this paper, a new type of appropriate residuals is defined, and the generation of these residuals is explained through graphical and numerical analysis. This research provides guidance for engineers to more accurately and reliably evaluate test results. The paper begins by briefly introducing the background of accelerated testing and the basic concepts of residual analysis. Then, for the data from accelerated life tests with step and varying stress, a new method for defining residuals is proposed. Subsequently, through specific graphical and numerical analysis, the generation of these residuals and their impact on the regression model are demonstrated. Finally, the paper summarizes the significance of this research and its implications for engineering practice, hoping to provide engineers with new ideas and methods for residual analysis in accelerated life tests.
