The article discusses the design and implementation of a network chat system based on .NET. The system is developed using ASP.NET 2.0 as the platform for building various operation modules, and SQL Server 2000 as the backend database server. The chat system consists of both a browser and a server component, allowing multiple users to communicate simultaneously. Users are required to register and obtain a username in order to access the system, and the system includes a chat server for managing user login requests, forwarding messages, and handling user exits. The browser component allows users to log in to the chat server, send requests, and engage in both private and public chat sessions. Users can also modify their personal profiles and passwords, as well as add or delete friends. For administrators, there are additional functions such as user registration statistics, user deletion, and user permission management.
