The importance of smartphones in our daily lives has been increasing rapidly. We use our phones for making calls, sending messages, browsing the internet, watching movies, listening to music, playing games, and much more. With the emergence of large screens and high-frequency smartphones, lithium-ion batteries have become even more significant, and as a result, lithium-ion battery chargers are receiving more attention from consumers. This project focuses on designing a lithium-ion battery charger based on a single-chip microcomputer. Through the use of AT89S52 and MAX1898, the charger can achieve pre-charging, fast charging, and constant voltage charging. The design includes a monitoring function using the LCD1602 to display various charging states, making the circuit simple, cost-effective, and highly efficient in charging, with features such as high safety, short charging time, minimal battery damage, and meeting the requirements of the average user. This paper also provides a detailed introduction to the core components of the charger, including the MAX1898 charging chip, the AT89S52 microcontroller, and the LCD1602 display. The intelligent charger features battery status detection, automatic switching of charging modes to meet the battery's charging needs, and displays the charging voltage. It also implements timed power cutoff for the MAX1898 to reduce energy consumption and extend its lifespan.
